technology trends that i missed

  1. usb drives: I have yet to own one of these handy little devices. I have a SD card reader, but I never use it as a usb drive.
  2. bookmarks: I type the address into the address bar. I rely on my memory to tell me where I want to go.
  3. digg/delicious/link sharing: I tend to talk about websites in person with other people.

These are no way judgments on using these things, I was thinking about how it would make sense for me to use these things, but I don’t, for no reason that is anywhere close to good.

District 9

Has the same buzz around it that Napoleon Dynamite had. If I talk movies with someone, they ask, have you seen District 9 yet?

Free time.

I’ve had a lot of free time since I returned from my trek across the western US. Work is slow and I’m not too motivated to find new work. I’ve been working on S&K’s wedding, which, has been going slow, but good. I’m really happy with the first section. So much so, that I sent it their way. I hope they like it. If you’re reading this, no pressure, I’m okay with you not loving it, just be honest.

From January to mid June I was fasting every Wednesday. I found that it was a good way to remind myself to pray and to remind myself that food is pretty optional. The hardest part are things I can’t control. Everything seems to go wrong on Wednesdays. I am more susceptible to being frustrated, but the stuff that happens on Wednesday would have made me frustrated any day of the week. I stopped my fasting because work got so intense that I thought I might fall ill if I stopped eating on Wednesdays. After the craziness stopped, I kept eating Wednesdays because it was convenient. This week I picked up the fasting mallet again. I forgot how hard and draining it can be. I was so tired at 7pm. It gets easier every week I do it–which is good and bad.

Wednesday afternoon J-Monroe and J-Roberts asked me to cut the trailer for their movie. It needs to be done by next Wednesday which I think seems pretty doable. It’s a good way to not work on my reel or those other projects I have floating around, plus, I get to cut the trailer! I’m excited to get into it. Today is my first day working on it and I’m feeling good.

Jon slid some music my way last night. I’m really enjoying The Rural Alberta Advantage.

Tight T-shirts & Other Insecurities

Hello Friends.

I’m back in the LA area. I had a very good trip to the midwest. I really enjoyed all the time that I was able to spend with friends and family, thank you all for making time to see me and talking it up oldschool.

Some thoughts I had while I was sleeping in my old bed and driving across the country.

  • If I just do what other people expect of me, I have to think less, but I’m not actively participating in my own decisions; easier isn’t worth it.
  • Do what you do–don’t over think things. If you do something wrong, listen to those who trust on how to do it better.
  • If you give money to a church so that the church can give to someone specifically, they’ll never know it was you (and they can’t reject it).
  • Goals are important.
  • Choose to do the right thing. (That came from Sunday, while technically I wasn’t on vacation any more.)

As a result of these things, I wore my shirt that I feel like is too tight, but always gets a compliment. Big thoughts can have little ramifications.

It’s been a good trip so far, only one cat stuck under the seat incident. Here are some of the awesome clouds & lighting we saw coming into Colorado.

Outta town

Waiting for e&l. We’re taking off on a trip back to la today. Our plan is to get to Denver this evening. I’ve had a great time in Sioux center. I have spent time with so many people that I can’t quite remember all the conversations at once. I’m excited to be back in the city and back on the work front.

But until we arrive in the Los Angeles I am looking forward to a road trip across the plains, mountains, and desert.

Leaving for iowa

I’m headed off to Sioux center today with Nikki and Nick. I think it just stopped raining outside which is a nice change of pace. I miss rain sometimes. I have had great visits with Seth, Andrew, and Eric, while I’ve been in the cities. Much beer was enjoyed. I started watching the west wing yesterday while Nikki was at work. It’s a pretty adictive TV show. I have seen most of the show before when it aired the first time, but I’ve forgot a lot. Anyway we are almost ready to go. I hope you’re doing well out there.

Numero uno

day one is nearing 24 hours. I had a nice day so far–walking about taking photographs and moving pictures. Had a great lunch at Cafe Acadia–they had Beamish beer, tasty! Any who, here is the fruit of my labor.
